about the artist

Here I am!

I am an artist, a writer, and a musician. I play Irish harp, guitar, tin whistle, and piano and listen to everything I can get my hands on.

I love all things ancient and romantic and epic and as such majored in early British history in college. Perhaps that explains my favorite authors, as well: C. S. Lewis, Diana Wynne Jones, J.R.R. Tolkien, Susan Cooper, and J. K. Rowling (need I even bother including her? Everybody in the world has read her books!)

My young adult (12-18 year olds) novel involving homicidal fairies, LAMENT, is coming out from Flux/ Llewellyn Worldwide in the fall of this year, and I'm very excited and pleased to say that it'll be available across the country in a bookstore near you very soon!  If you're interested in that, my writing blog is at m-stiefvater.livejournal.com.

I'm a die-hard horse enthusiast, dog lover, Anglophile, Celtophile, idealist, bad comedian, and I doubt that I will ever get myself entirely out of 14th century history. This is me.
